PowerShell Script: Report-VMWareVMs

I’m working on migration of a few hundred VMs from VMWare to Hyper-V and one requirement I have is to take a snapshot of the current VMs configuration in VMWare for future reference for after we decommission the VMWare environment.

Collecting VM specs, virtual disk information, network MAC addresses, etc… for hundreds of VMs using screenshots from vSphere is a job that is, well, not for me! So naturally I fired up my PowerShell and started drilling into PowerCLI.

TheĀ  result is a script that creates three variables, or shall we call them reports, that can be exported as a Grid View inside PowerShell or to any other format you desire.

The script is available over at my GitHub here.
